The Society
The Society for Kraak Family Descendants is an organization
whose members, either directly or through marriage, are descendants of
Håkan Svensson Kraak, the progenitor of the line and the first
permanent resident and mariner pilot on Långören.
Långören is an island in
Karlskrona archipelago in the south east of Sweden. Read more about the
Blekinge

The Society for Kraak Family Descendants was founded in 1965
by
Hjalmar Berglund and now has more then 1 350 members worldwide. The Society is
continuously researching the family line and documents its findings. We publish
an annual Newsletter and every third year there is a family reunion on Långören.
At each reunion, a membership list is available.
Håkan Kraak
was born about 1660 on the island of Ungskär located in the
south-eastern area of the Blekinge archipelago. His father, Sven Persson Kraak,
is thought to have died sometime before 1698. Håkan Svensson Kraak married
Annica Larsdotter and lived 18 years in Stenshamn before
moving to Långören. As of the year 1707 they are recorded as being residents of
the island where Håkan and boatswain Erik Eriksson Loo took over the tenancy of
Långören. Håkan Svensson Kraak died in 1711.
